I wish the weather was like this all the time.
July 15, 2009/ 3:16:00 PM

Ah. The weather is simply divine today. It's cool, it's slightly breezy, and the scent of rain fills the air (well, that's because it is raining now, well, actually, it's sort of come down to a drizzle right now). And here I am, sitting in the living room, my hair all wet from my shower a few minutes ago, and I'm browsing online stores and wishing wishing wishing how I could get my hands on almost everything I see on there. And right now I am so in the mood to go shopping. Which I will do, once I get back to Singapore (: [ Soo Wen Yi! You're invited! We're going together, okay? =DDD ]
Tomorrow my mom's bringing me to go see some eye specialist, to check up on my right eye (the cornea got scratched when I was in Bangkok last year xD). I'm pretty sure it's healed completely by now. It's been more than 7 months and I've been wearing contact lenses quite frequently without any irritation in my right eye.
I don't know whether I'm excited or not that I'm going back to Singapore =\

Last week...
July 14, 2009/ 12:35:00 PM

Sigh, this week will be my final week here in KK before I go back to Singapore ):
For the first time I actually find myself not looking forward to the weekend (my flight's on Saturday).
Sigh, I had such a great time here in KK! Ahhh, I'm so not looking forward to going back to school.
I mean, it's great that I'll get to see my friends there again, but yeah, being away has made me realize how much KK sort of means to me, lol. Yep, Kota Kinabalu, you will always be my home (:

Anyway, emo rantings aside, here's another relatively long picture post!

Last Thursday my mom asked if I wanted to accompany her to Beringgis Resort for two days and a night. She had some office-related function to attend, and she said I could just go along with her and relax and stuff, so yeah, I agreed to go.

We stayed in a rather small room that had tiled floors which reminded me of a kitchen, haha. The first thing I said when I stepped into the room was "Whoa, why is it like a kitchen in here!?" xD

Mummy and I had to share a queen-sized bed, and to be honest, I didn't find the sheets to be very clean =\ In fact, my mom found a freakin' dried up spot of blood on the edge of the sheet T.T Eww! And the pillow cases were sort of yellowish. At least they didn't smell weird or anything (thank goodness) though.

Enough about the less-than-five-star room, I'm so glad I managed to wake up early the next morning to take some rather lovely photographs of the sunrise! ♥

Oh my gosh I just love the different colours seen in the sky when you catch a gorgeous sunrise! And I love the contrast of the trees and bushes against the bright sky.

I even spotted some cattle wandering around at the beach xD

And that little dog there on the right was chasing after them for a while xD It was kinda funny to see such a small (in proportion to the size of the cattle) dog running after those huge beasts.

There was also a swimming pool, but I didn't bother bringing my swimming things, so all I could do was take pictures, lol.

The slide would've been more fun if the pool was a lot bigger (this was the kiddy pool, by the way -_-)

The main pool wasn't all that big either, actually. Glad I didn't waste space in my luggage by bringing along my swimming things, haha.

---

On Saturday afternoon, my mom and I went to Karamunsing to do some shopping, and I also wanted to go for a hair trim. The hair salon that we usually go to was full, so I decided to go have the trim at another salon, one where I've never been in before. It was only for a front trim anyway.

After that we stopped by for drinks at the Coffee Bean.

I usually go for their hazelnut ice blended when I go to the Coffee Bean, but for some reason it wasn't available that day! Hm, or is it only available in Singapore? =\ I have no idea. But anyway, I settled for another staple favourite of mine: Caramel.

My mom had the black forest ice blended, and she said the cherries they put in there ruined it for her, but she didn't hate it or anything.

---

On Sunday night, my family and I went to have dinner at 1 Borneo.
I drove all the way there =p At night! It was a little bit scary, but I did it! I was in a parking lot for the first time, and I parked for the first time xD Hahaha I'm so lame.

We ate at New York New York, a first for me and my parents, but Tanya had already been there like, once or twice, I think.

Man, were the portions huge!

My dad, Tanya and I had these huge mugs of root bear float. I don't think I've ever drank anything else out of a mug that big before xD And that tiny mug (no, it really is tiny, even without comparing it to the large mug) is my mom's expresso xD

Here are Tanya and I posing with our beverages xD

I had this for the main course (I can never say no to pasta =p):

I'm telling you, that salmon was not only huge, it was the mostly salmoney-tasting salmon I have ever had. People who dislike the taste of fish would not like it xD Even I - an avid self-proclaimed lover of salmon - could not bring myself to finish the entire thing, and had to share some of it with the rest of my family. It was still really delicious though, the salmon and the pasta.

Tanya had some burger, as did my dad. My mom had cheesy chicken.

Yep, these were a few things I did throughout the week. Here's an adorable picture to end my blog post for the day:

High-tech toddlers =p

Short update before bed.
July 11, 2009/ 11:41:00 PM

I went for hair trim this afternoon, at a salon that I've never been to before in my life, haha. Well, there wasn't much to be worried about, because all I wanted was to go for a trim, I wasn't interested in undergoing any drastic hairstyle transformations or anything, lol.

And I quite like how it turned out xD

Although, yes, I look like I'm around 15 years of age... xD Hahaha.

After my haircut my mom and I went to the Coffee Bean, where I had a caramel ice blended and she had a black forest one... Hm, I think that's what it was called xD Anyway, she didn't really like hers because she said the cherry flavour kind of ruined it =\ Haha. I don't like cherries either. And my middle name sounds like "cherries" xD

Anyway, I have to go to bed now, because I have to wake up early tomorrow morning for church, so, nighty-night, all (:

Time to get out the red P sticker!
July 8, 2009/ 11:06:00 AM

So, I finally got my driving license! (:
IMG_2631

Okay, so is it spelt "licence" (as seen on the card) or "license"? Hmm. Is one American and the other British? Darn, those are confusing =\ OH WELL.

Last night I asked my dad if I could go and pick Tanya up from tuition, and so he said okay, but of course he had to be in the car with me. And in general, I think I did pretty okay except I steer like a snake xD Okay, practice, practice, everything'll improve soon! Plus, it was my very first time driving at night, so it was pretty nerve-wrecking for a poor new driver like myself xP

In other not-so-happy news, school is starting soon ): I've already registered online for my courses and electives. Sigh, talk about having a reminder about the new school term.

On Sunday I finally got to watch Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen! I kinda liked the movie, I guess. And I think - and I'm not speaking out of "jealousy" or anything here, okay - Megan Fox is a bit of a bad actress xD And all her scenes were solely for making the most out of her sex appeal -_-

Right, that's it for my update today. Toodles!

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
That was the Bible verse that was running through my mind as I sat waiting for my name to be called out. It was the verse that comforted me. It calmed me down. It reassured me.
I prayed so hard for it! And God really answered my prayers (:
I finally passed my driving test today! Hopefully I will be getting the P license by this weekend, and tomorrow my dad's gonna teach me how to drive the automatic car (I've never driven one before... When I practiced it was always with the manual one). I'm so relieved, hahaha. I spent nearly the entire day at the driving institute, because there were a lot of other people going for the test.
Anyway, I'm super relieved that all of that is over. And to celebrate my "victory" (xD) my parents brought me and Tanya out for ice cream at VedaBlu xD
I had double scoops - White Chocolate and this Mascarpone - a type of cheese - & Raspberry flavour.

I love ice cream. LOL xD
And I didn't know Yogurberry (in City Mall) had closed down!? At first I wanted to go there but the corner where it once was was completely cleared out! Hm, wonder what happened to it? I'm sure Yogurberry's pretty popular. The one in Warisan Square usually seems to be doing pretty well...
Haha, actually, I was at City Mall again last night, for dinner with my family at The Hut. I had charbroiled lamb ribs:

Yum (:
-
Lol I still can't believe I managed to pass my driving test! Did I mentioned I was relieved? Happy? =p Hahaha.

makeup the ultimate mask.
June 23, 2009/ 6:44:00 PM

Okay, before I continue on with this blog post of mine, I would like to make clear that I am not your typical celebrity hater and that I'm only doing this for fun and because I came across another website that was featuring almost the same thing, and decided to kinda do my own. Are we clear? Hahaha.

So what is it I'm choosing to blog about today?

Celebrities without makeup. Bahahaha.
And some really are quite scary O.o
Like one lyric of Katy Perry's says: "Comparisons are easily done once you've had a taste of perfection." I think that kinda applies to seeing usually-all-glammed-up celebrities when they haven't been seeing their beauty squad.

First up!
Twilight actress Kristen Stewert, someone I didn't really actually find pretty when I first saw her, but then I came across this photograph of her with blonde hair...

... and I think she actually looks really cute in the photo! I think blonde suits her better instead of her usual dull brunette 'do. Hmmm, that is her, right? xD
And she's not wearing that much makeup in that photo but she still looks polished and pretty.
So, what happens when the war paint and hairdye (unless she's a natural blonde, which I don't think she is?) comes off?

Whoa, I know you star in a movie about vampires but I didn't know you actually resembled one in real life O.o (Okay, so that was kinda harsh, forgive me xD) But yeah, she looks pale and kinda miserable in this picture, and like she didn't bother brushing her hair.

Next up, someone who is not afraid to go out in public without wearing pants:

Ms. Poker Face herself, Lady GaGa. I think she mentioned in an interview before that her hair is real, but I have no idea how true that is. I mean, seriously, can real hair really look like that?
To be honest, even with makeup, Lady GaGa ain't exactly the prettiest lassie in the industry (but I do agree that she is extremely talented indeed). So what happens when she's not in her futuristic garb, inches of lipstick and miles of eyeliner?

-

-
-

Is that even the same person? It looks like it could be Lady GaGa's mom or something instead xD Well, at least we know she's faithful to weird and unconventional attire.

This next one literally made me go O_O when I first saw it, to be honest xD

The girl who might as well be Queen of our world, Taylor Swift. She's won award after award after award, had a guest stint on CSI (something that she claims has "always been my dream"), has a bunch of top 20 singles, is on an amazing tour right now, wins more awards, and has even tried her hand at rapping. Oh, and she's not bad-looking either. Everybody (well, almost) loves her and her hair. So, ready to see the picture that made me go O_O?

Big difference without the heavy eyeliner, isn't it? (Yes, I admit, eyeliner really does work wonders.) To be fair to Taylor, it isn't that terrible, and she does has a nice complexion? But yeah, one thing is that her skin tone is almost the same as her hair colour, and without some dark makeup to accentuate those light eyes, she appears kinda plain =\ Sorry, Tayl, but I still love your songs x)

Besides makeup, another thing that works miracles is the power of Photoshop, but of course, it's only used for magazines and photo shoots.

I once tried to Photoshop myself and it made me start comparing the before and after effects immediately, and actually - yes, I feel pathetic - felt upset because I thought I looked so much better Photoshopped xD I then vowed to never Photoshop a photograph of myself ever again, hahaha.

I wonder if Cameron Diaz here feels the same:

I wonder why God didn't let Asians have blue eyes too ):

Poor Cammy. She's kinda unrecognizable here =\ Erm, at least she still has nice legs?

This one shocked me too:

I know several people who find Eva Longoria gorgeous, but I personally wouldn't label her as such. I mean, she is quite pretty, but there's something about her that I find... weird. No, that isn't the word. Hmmm, my point is... Her beauty isn't one I appreciate. Nah, that doesn't sound right either. Bah, I give up. Let's just move on to her shocking photo:

Dude, does she freakin' have a moustache?! Or is that my imagination? O.o Well, at least she's still smiling confidently. And yes, I'm pretty sure this is the Eva Longoria Parker I was talking about earlier on.

Now, after all this talk about celebrities who look better with makeup, here's someone whom I think looks better without it:

Celeb-I-dislike-but-have-to-admit-I-do-still-kinda-find-cute Selena Gomez in her au naturale (well, mostly, I guess...) cuteness. Please, Selena, you don't need tons of eyeshadow and eyeliner just to fit in. I may not like you, but I do find you pretty.

Okay, for one, you shouldn't have an album coming out -_- What is it with Disney and their tendency to make all their slaves stars into "triple threats" (Singing, acting and dancing, but most only deal with the first two)? Gah, that's a post for another day, let's have a look at heavily made-up Gomez here:

Let's not even bother.

So yeah, much as I myself like makeup, I am aware that being seen in it a lot can result in, erm, less than positive results if you suddenly decide to go without it. This is one reason I do not want to wear fake eyelashes =\

Oh, all right, to be fair to the celebs I just "dissed", here are two pictures of myself, one of me with makeup, and one of me without it:

I think I'm only wearing eyeliner and maybe some mascara in this one though.

And there I am without any makeup at all, bahahaha.

Well, thus ends my post x) Let me know what you thought x)

XOXO
